Maria Durate
Maria began her professional journey as a dedicated teacher, instructing various subjects and building meaningful connections with students and their families. Through this work, she discovered a passion for supporting individuals beyond academics, which led them to pursue a career in mental health counselling. As a high school career counsellor, Maria gained invaluable experience guiding adolescents in navigating personal challenges and planning their futures, further solidifying their commitment to fostering emotional and psychological well-being.
Maria specializes in working with adults and adolescents 14 and older, addressing a wide range of mental health concerns. These include depression, emotional regulation, anxiety, perfectionism, shame and guilt, self-esteem/self-confidence, and trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Maria integrates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Person-Centred Therapy into her practice. She believes in tailoring her therapeutic approach to each client's unique needs, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-discovery. Her ability to listen deeply and provide tailored support helps clients build resilience, develop coping strategies, and achieve meaningful growth.
Maria is fluent in English and Spanish, offering therapy in both languages to better serve a diverse range of clients.
