Jennifer Den Ouden
Jen (she/her) is a Canadian Certified Counsellor and obtained her Masters of Counselling degree through Yorkville University and also earned her Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies with a minor in Pastoral Care and Counselling from Vanguard College. Her studies focused on gaining a deep understanding of how individuals from diverse cultures and societies interact, thus Jen’s communication strategies are adaptable to meet the needs of a variety of individuals. In addition to her academic achievements, Jen has completed EMDR basic training. Her professional background is rooted in addiction and mental health, where she has primarily taken on roles managing treatment facilities for both men and women.
Jen believes that by uncovering the underlying causes of our challenges, whether they be emotional, psychological, or situational, we can address them more effectively and find long-lasting solutions. Jen believes in the power of connection to navigate life’s complexities and overcome obstacles. Grounded in a holistic perspective, Jen uses a comprehensive bio-psycho-social-spiritual-cultural framework in her counselling approach. While Jen holds advanced and specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), she also incorporates the following modalities into her practice:
