Fatima Nashman

Fatima Nashman is a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology (MACP) student at Yorkville University, currently completing her practicum at ReFocus You. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology from MacEwan University. Her academic training encompasses comprehensive coursework in ethics, research methodology, and a range of therapeutic modalities and interventions, including biopsychosocial, cognitive-behavioral, psycho-dynamic, and humanistic approaches. Additionally, her studies emphasize cultural competence, advanced counseling techniques, couples and family systems, and group therapy interventions.


Fatima brings over a decade of experience in healthcare administration, with the past three years dedicated to a private practice specializing in post-traumatic stress and anxiety disorders. In this role, she conducts intake assessments for public safety personnel, including active and retired members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), and Edmonton Police Service (EPS), addressing complex presentations of acute and chronic stress. Her prior experience includes seven years as a medical office assistant, where she collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other medical specialists. Additionally, Fatima has worked as a Behavioral Interventionist with children and adolescents on the Autism Spectrum and has coordinated developmental programs focused on enhancing social skills in children and youth with cognitive and developmental disabilities.

Fatima is particularly dedicated to trauma-informed care, with a specialized focus on working with individuals from late adolescence through early adulthood, as well as couples, families, and public safety personnel. Her clinical practice is grounded in evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). Additionally, she integrates creative and expressive modalities such as narrative therapy, art therapy, play therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions, offering a comprehensive and integrative approach to treatment."
