Farrah Cheriet
Farrah is a student in the Master’s of Counselling program at City University, graduating in the summer of 2024. She is fluent in English and French, with a working knowledge of Arabic and Spanish, which allows her to engage with clients meaningfully in their preferred language.
Farrah has 6 years of experience providing employment counselling and vocational rehabilitation to the French community in Edmonton and to individuals with barriers to employment.
Farrah aspires to empower individuals to embrace their authentic selves and navigate their lives with confidence, resilience, and compassion. She has a unique passion for clients from diverse backgrounds, including those dealing with issues related to cultural adjustment, complex identities and neurodiversity.
Farrah a compassionate and culturally sensitive therapist. She approaches therapy from a trauma-informed and strength based approach. She is guided by evidence-based practices, including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Dialectical Behavior Technique, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Farrah's capstone research demonstrates her deep understanding and commitment to the field. It focuses on the impact of religious trauma on LGBTQ+ communities, exploring the intersection of religion, spirituality, and sexuality. Her work aims to highlight mental health challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in religious settings but also provides valuable recommendations for support organizations.
Outside of her therapeutic work, Farrah enjoys spending time with her family, yoga, running, reading and drinking coffee.
